Come celebrate the release of Rosemary Lawton’s debut EP: PAINTED GLASS! Joined by an incredible team of musicians including Carole Bestvater, Maria Cherwick, Billy Sutton, Jason Whelan, and Sarah Jane Johnson, and an opening performance by Naomi Brown and friends, this is going to be a fun night of friends and tunes! Tickets are now available at Fred’s Records and O’Brien’s Music! Rosemary Lawton’s music career has taken off in the past couple of years due to her performances with the Open Highway, and the Derina Harvey Band. A recent graduate of Memorial University with a focus in Violin and true fiddle player at heart, Rosemary has played in a number of local groups including the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, the MUN Chamber Orchestra, the Hugh Scott Band, the Celtic Fiddlers, the Step Fiddlers, The Pints, Eastern Passage and Todd Scott and the Sleveens. Because of these strong associations with both traditional and classical music, Rosemary’s music takes on a “fusion” of both genres, with a constant hint of classical in her traditional arrangements and compositions. Her voice is reminiscent of the high soprano celtic singing of Ireland but with a punch. Her upcoming EP “Painted Glass” takes on a classical tinge of traditional Newfoundland, Scottish and original tunes creating a blend of old and new. Painted Glass was produced by Ian Foster, and engineered by Scott Hammond at The Blue Room in St. John’s. It was mastered by Jason Whelan at The Sound Solution. The artwork was done by Trevor de Verteuil and layout by Jerry Stamp.
